Besiktas win to spur us on?

Tom HuddlestoneGreat news is that Mido is back for the West Ham game after recovering from a thigh injury. Didier Zokora unfortunately will be missing, but we have a very able deputy in Tom Huddlestone.

The Hammers have lost their last six competitive games, even so, we should still be wary of them. They’re certainly not the team of last season, but whether they’ll up their game tomorrow is unknown.

Some have blamed their ‘demise’ down to the two Argentines, Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez, whether this is true, who knows. I’m just hoping that we carry our form from Thursday’s win into this game and give them a thrashing!

Besiktas 0-2 Spurs

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham H. on October 20th, 2006

Dimitar BerbatovWhat appeared to be a very tough game turned out be to something of a stroll. Even without an ill Didier Zokora, Spurs’ midfield looks strong and fluid with Tom Huddlestone looking very much at home in the defensive role. Even Jenas, Murphy and Ghaly performed their tasks well.

The highlight of course was Dimitar Berbatov’s goal. The Bulgarian showed what a classy striker he is when he went passed the ‘keeper to slot home.

We had fortune on the first goal, with Hossam Ghaly’s shot rebounding in, but the Turks were outclassed. Even when they were given the chance put the pressure on they couldn’t make it count and instead gave us multiple opportunities to extend our lead - Robbie Keane’s shot off the bar being one.

But overall it was a fine win and a fine performance. Lets have some of the same on Sunday against West Ham!!!

Davenport’s red rescinded

Calum DavenportGood news is that Calum Davenport will be available this weekend for the Premiership match against West Ham United.

Referee Martin Atkinson gave the defender a red card in the 1-1 draw at Villa for a professional foul on Gabriel Agbonlahor, however, the FA have now rescinded the card.

Other news, reserve striker Andy Barcham has extended his contract at White Hart Lane.

Spurs manager Martin Jol said: “Andy is one of a group of lads who are coming through together and developing into very good players already. We are very happy with him and he demonstrated his ability with a fine goal on Monday [in the draw against Watford] after coming back from injury.”
