Berbatov to sign new Spurs deal?

Dimitar BerbatovI must say I was very concerned with all the recent speculation linking Dimitar Berbatov with moves to other clubs. Thankfully it seems he’s going to sign a new deal at White Hart Lane.

Berbatov told The Sun: “I am really happy that I made the choice to come here to Tottenham to work with the manager Martin Jol - he is a great man.

“I have said it many times, when you play good, when you score goals, especially here in England, everyone is watching you.

“Manchester, Chelsea they take an interest but I’m settled at Tottenham.”

Dawson gets new contract

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham H. on May 11th, 2007

Michael DawsonIt’s great news to see Michael Dawson sign a new deal until 2012. He absolutely deserves it - he’s been so consistent and such a man mountain in defence.

He told the club’s website: “It’s really great that the Club has looked to reward me with a new contract. I still had four years left on my contract so this represents a further commitment on both my and the Club’s behalf.

“We have got everything to play for as we head into our final game of the season. Our squad has settled so well. We’ve got a lot of different nationalities and our fair share of jokers, the team spirit is fantastic. You might think we are looking for a rest but actually we’ve all enjoyed the season so much that, in some ways, we are sad it is coming to an end.”

Spurs draw with Blackburn

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham H. on May 11th, 2007

After seeing Blackburn Rovers’ line-up prior to last night’s game, admittedly I was concerned. They have some fine players in their team - like Brett Emerton, David Bentley, Morten Gamst Pedersen, and of course, Benni McCarthy. Sure they have to ’spoilers’ in there too, but they’re a very tough team with a good amount of skill.

I was disappointed to see Malbranque going off injured - he’s such a creative player and is always buzzing around - pity that - in my opinion - Mokoena ‘did him’ on purpose.

They took their goal well to go into the lead. It was a great cross from Gamst Pedersen, finished superbly by McCarthy. It was really annoying to see them score considering that was their first shot on target though.

Blackburn could have gone 2-0 up when they hit the crossbar from a Samba header.

Luckily Berbatov helped us get level when his shot was parried and Defoe tucked home. We definitely deserved the equaliser.

It was a shame we couldn’t get the winner. Keane was close when he hit the post. But in the end I think it was a fair result. Least now we only need one more point to secure UEFA Cup football next season.

I wasn’t pleased with Hossam Ghaly throwing his shirt to the ground - he was having a shocking game and was deservedly substituted. He should apologise publicly for his actions, otherwise I’m sure Spurs fans will agree, that we don’t want to see him wear a Spurs shirt ever again.
