Jol out, Klinsmann in?
I thought this morning I’d wake up with the news that Martin Jol has been sacked as Spurs manager - but no. I’m still hopeful that the axe will fall and have Sky Sports News on with the hope of seeing breaking news announcing Jol’s departure.
He really has to go now, there’s no way back, so if the board aren’t going to do the right thing, then maybe Jol should resign and save us some money at the same time.
I don’t hate Jol, and don’t have any ill feeling towards him, however, I’m sure a lot of fans will agree that if he doesn’t go promptly, things could start to get ugly.
On his replacement I would like Jurgen Klinsmann. I was a massive fan on his whilst he had that initial year at Spurs and even though he soon left, I still rate him highly, as he always conducted himself in such a professional manner. He did come back to us for six months a few years later and even though he wasn’t the same player, in the end he scored some crucial goals to keep us up, remember the four he scored at Wimbledon?
I think the only downside to Jurgen taking over is that he has no domestic managerial experience, he does though have international experience though with the German national side, with whom he lead to the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup.
Crucially, I think Klinsmann would have such an inspirational effect on the players, that his lack of experience wouldn’t matter. Therefore I really do hope the club make a big effort in trying to get him!
