Should we be worried?

Ledley KingRather worrying news is that Ledley King experiences a ‘small reaction’ after playing games. This comes after he underwent a knee operation in the summer.

This doesn’t appear to affected the centre-half’s peformances, however, if the problem became serious, there must be a possibility that we could lose him at anytime during the season.

It seems though that England national manager Steve McClaren expects Ledley – as well as Rio Ferdinand – to be fit for Wednesday’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia.

McClaren said: “Ledley King missed training but is also expected to train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday,”

England 0-0 Macedonia

Posted by Stevio in England on October 8th, 2006

Ledley KingVery disappointing performance by England. Sure, Macedonia defended well and even at times looked good going forward, but the home side should definitely beat these kinds of teams.

One positive out of the game was Ledley King’s performance. He showed what we already know, that he’s a classy defender that is more than capable at international level. I just hope it doesn’t give Chelsea ideas after seeing him partner John Terry in the centre of defence.

McClaren selects Spurs four for England

Posted by Stevio in England, Fantasy Football, Tottenham Hotspur on September 29th, 2006

Steve McClarenEngland manager Steve McClaren has selected Spurs quartet Paul Robinson, Ledley King, Jermaine Jenas and Jermain Defoe for the squad to face Macedonia and Croatia in Euro 2008 qualifiers.

The main talking point is the continued exclusion of David Beckham. I’d include him, but only as a reserve. As I think the team is more settled without him.

Good to see Scott Parker included. He’s having a fine season with Newcastle. He’s actually in my fantasy team and has been earning me quite a few points and in turn increasing in value! :)

Goalkeepers: Robinson (Tottenham), Foster (Man Utd), Kirkland (Liverpool);

Defenders: G Neville (Man Utd), P Neville (Everton), Brown (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Carragher (Liverpool), King (Tottenham), A Cole (Chelsea), Bridge (Chelsea);

Midfielders: Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Jenas (Tottenham), Carrick (Man Utd), Richardson (Man Utd), Downing (Middlesbrough), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Parker (Newcastle);

Strikers: Rooney (Man Utd), Crouch (Liverpool), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Tottenham)
