Berbatov and Huddlestone linked with exits

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 7th, 2008

Dimitar Berbatov has been mentioned by AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani as a possible signing for the Italian giants.

He said: “Drogba, Adebayor, Berbatov, Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o and Stuggart’s Mario Gomez are the players the Press have linked us with.

“I cannot say who we will get but any of them would be good.”

Another player on the way out of White Hart Lane could be Tom Huddlestone. He’s been linked with a move to Everton.

The 21-year-old had already been linked with a £6m move to Goodison Park yesterday, today however, The Sun report the defender/midfielder as being rated at £8m. It seems his value has risen £2m in one day!

Mexican midfielder headed to Spurs

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham Hotspur on June 7th, 2008

Tottenham Hotspur are set to land another big player this summer with the signing of Barcelona’s attacking midfielder Giovani dos Santos.

The Mexican will sign a contract until 2013 after he completes a medical.

Spurs could end up paying just £8.77m for the 19-year-old.

Dos Santos told The Sun newspaper: “I love Tottenham’s plans, they are very ambitious. I was interested in joining them because they are a team that can compete with the top clubs.

“I know Juande Ramos and, of all the offers I had, this was the most challenging from a sporting point of view.”

Villa, Bolton and Newcastle in for Dawson?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 4th, 2008

According to The Sun, Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United are interested in central defender Michael Dawson.

A fee of £4m has been mentioned.

It would be sad to see the 24-year-old leave, especially after he showed early promise.

Granted, of late he doesn’t seem the same defender, however, he’s still young and I can see him coming good in time.

Spurs rumours: No Pandev, Gunter out?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 2nd, 2008

It doesn’t look like Lazio striker Goran Pandev will be joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Pandev told The Sun newspaper: “It is true Tottenham want me, but I intend to stay at Lazio.”

We had supposedly targeted him as a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.

In the same paper, right-back Chris Gunter is reportedly wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers on a one-year loan.

Sunday transfer rumours

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 1st, 2008

A round-up of Sunday’s transfer rumours.

According to the Sunday Times, the fee for midfielder John Bostock will most likely go to tribunal.

The Sunday People say we could offer Aaron Lennon and Hossam Ghaly and £7m cash for Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley.

Also in the Sunday People, they report if Dimitar Berbatov leaves, we could turn to Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.

Same paper say Spurs and also Aston Villa are interested in Sampdoria defender Hugo Campagnaro.

In the Sunday Mirror, Queens Park Rangers could make a move for defender Anthony Gardner.

Again in the same newspaper, there could be a huge clearout with Darren Bent, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Gilberto, Younnes Kaboul, Jamie O’Hara, Paul Robinson and Adel Taarbet leaving.

O’Hara being axed wouldn’t make much sense, as he’s just signed a new deal, also Gilberto was only signed in January.

Portsmouth rival Spurs for Dunne?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 1st, 2008

If reports are to be believed and Spurs are interested in signing Manchester City defender Richard Dunne, then they now have competition from Portsmouth to sign the Irishman.

Harry Redknapp told BBC Radio Five Live: “I like Dunne. He’s a top player and I think there’s a couple of clubs in for him at the moment. But I think we’ve got as good a chance as anyone now.”

He added: “We’ve got in the Uefa Cup for next year and we’ve got some good players so hopefully we can start to compete with the Tottenhams and the Villas and teams like that,”

It seems a strange move by Redknapp as they have Sylvain Distin and Sol Campbell already at the heart of their defence, so why move for Dunne?

The only thing I can think of is that he wants to improve his squad, but he’s already got Hermann Hreidarsson, Linvoy Primus and of course Noe Pamarot who can cover at centre-half. So who knows what’s going on.
