The 34-year-old ‘keeper was on loan at White Hart Lane since January 2005 from Slavia Praha. Most of the time he did well when played, sadly, he wasn’t quite up to the standard that we need.

In ex-Spurs player news, I notice Stephen Carr hasn’t been offered a new deal at Newcastle United. Interesting statistic is that he only played 107 times for them in four years. That’s pretty bad.

Ashley Cole’s challenge on Alan Hutton was absolutely appalling, he could have broken the Scot’s leg! I still find it hard to believe he only got a yellow card!

Some of defending was again suspect, especially for Chelsea’s first goal. Their second was definitely offside!

I think Paul Robinson could have done better with their third, but I guess he had to spread himself to block the shot.

Tom Huddlestone’s equaliser to make it 3-3 was sweetly struck, but the goal to make it 4-4 by Robbie Keane was just sublime. As can be heard on the video, “Pick that one out!”

It’s a pity Dimitar Berbatov didn’t make it 5-4 on the night to give us the win, but all in all, it was a great game.

Things haven’t been going so smoothly since picking up the silverware, losses to both Birmingham City and PSV. Obviously the latter defeat in the UEFA Cup was the most important, as now we have to win over in Holland.

I think with our 4-0 thrashing today of West Ham, that should hold us in good stead for the key game against PSV on Wednesday. I’m hoping we can carry the performance over and get the result we so desperately need.

Below are the goals from today’s game. Wonderful headers by Bebatov, and good to see Gilberto having a smile on his face after his disastrous hiccup on Thursday night. Nice too to see Darren Bent get on the score sheet!

Tottenham Hotspur have sealed the signing of Cardiff City full-back Chris Gunter. The 18-year-old will officially become a Spurs player when the transfer window opens on January 1st.

There’s been nothing official on the fee or contract length, however reports claim the deal could reach up to £3million.

On the move, Chris’ father Gerald said: “Christopher spoke with Gareth Bale, who is very happy at Spurs, and that helped Chris to make up his mind.

“Gareth told Christopher Spurs was a great club.

“Christopher is really determined to make the step up, he has said before that you’re not a real professional footballer until you move away from home.

“It’s a short career and these kind of chances only come around once or twice, he feels it is right to move.”

He added: “As a parent it is really reassuring to see him go to a club who have invested a lot of money and time into young British talent.

“We can look and see that Gareth [Bale] is already there and lots of others too.

“Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas, Danny Rose, Tom Huddlestone, Jamie O’Hara, all these players were signed as teenagers and they’ve been given their chance.

“It makes a big difference, he will be surrounded by good young British players, that doesn’t happen if you sign for someone like, say, Arsenal.

“He should be able to fit in quickly, I believe he’s training for the first time on Christmas Day.

“Obviously his mum is a bit upset he’s moving out and away from home - he’s been with Cardiff since he was eight years old - but we’ll go and watch him every chance we get.”

At least we put in a good performance and deserved something from the game. If only Robbie Keane had hit the back of the net instead of the crossbar or having his penalty saved.

I thought Jamie O’Hara had a brilliant first start in a Spurs shirt. Of course he was playing his former club. He looked very much at home in the centre of midfield. Also Paul Robinson put in yet another solid display in goal.

Dimitar Berbatov scored a cracker of a goal. Keane had backheeled the ball into the Bulgarian’s path, who blasted it home near post.

It’s just a shame we conceeded two weak goals. The first goal by Arsenal could have been avoided if players had tracked back, and the second, well, Tom Huddlestone, where were you? Also if you look at the photo, isn’t it strange how high Nicklas Bendtner is up in the air? What’s he on!? I demand a drugs test!

If the move goes through the Welsh international will reportedly join in a £3million deal.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: “In our situation as a Championship football club, we have to consider anything of this magnitude.

“Chris has indicated he wants to talk to them and we have given permission.”

He continued: “I think with the price itself we would have had to consider it no matter what the situation was financially.

“Clearly given the challenge we’ve had with [creditors] Langston, it’s made the financial security of the club more acute that we do look at this sort of transfer.

“But if Chris had said he wasn’t interested in going, we wouldn’t have sold him.”

Yesterday the Welsh club had said in a statement on their official website the following.

“We can officially confirm that Chris Gunter is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move in January.

“We had received a number of offers from Tottenham concerning Chris. When the figure reached our valuation of the player on Thursday night we then spoke to Chris to inform him of their interest. Chris then agreed to meet with Tottenham with a view to a permanent move to the London Club.”

Words from non-other than Sol Campbell. Perhaps someone should have reminded him of saying that before complaining of ‘verbal abuse’ from “some people may be a little bit disgruntled at how I left certain clubs.”

I do agree that ‘verbal abuse’ towards Campbell at matches should only go so far, however, if he expects Spurs fans to be silenced, then I totally disagree. After all, this is the man that once said that his ‘heart and soul’ was at Spurs.

I doubt Sol Campbell will ever realise the magnitude of his deception in the months leading up to his transfer to Arsenal, but for Spurs fans, we will always remember our former club captain as ‘Judas’.

We certainly need to improve at left-back with Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekoto out injured, we’re left with just Lee Young-Pyo.

Emanuelson is 21 and has played at least 30 games per season over the last two years for Ajax.

Born in Amsterdam, he’s played at both under-21 and full international level.

He’s score four times in his career, and as you can see below, he’s got quite a shot on him.

It was very clear that is was in no way shape or form a red card, therefore how can the FA back the decision as ’serious foul play’?

This is twice that the FA have let us down - the previous time was when Robbie Keane was sent off in the Birmingham City defeat. That time is was a yellow card at most.

Like Robbie, Zokora will be miss three matches. The ban starts this Saturday against Arsenal.

Talking of Arsenal, they will be our opponents in the semi-finals of the League Cup. The first leg is away on the 9th of January. Hopefully this year we can get a good result away and then finish them off at White Hart Lane.
