Spurs missed out of Zaragoza forward?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on September 2nd, 2008

According to Marca, Spurs yesterday missed out Real Zaragoza striker Sergio Garcia.

The Spaniard apparently rejected a better deal at Spurs in favour of joining Real Betis.

Betis are reportedly paying more than £8m for the 25-year old.

Garcia’s team-mate at Zaragoza, Diego Milito, had also been linked with moving to Tottenham, however the Argentine opted to re-join Genoa.

Corluka in, Berbatov to Manchester City?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours, Transfers on September 1st, 2008

It’s transfer deadline day and loads of movement happening.

Firstly, Manchester City defender Vedran Corluka has finally joined Spurs. He’s cost £8.5m and has signed a six-year deal.

The Croatian told his new club’s official website: “I am delighted to be here because I am coming to a big club with great players, great ambition and also my best friend [Luka Modric] is here so it is a very happy day for me.”

Sky Sports News are reporting that Dimitar Berbatov is subject of a ‘British transfer record’ bid from Manchester City. City, are in the process of being taken over by a United Arab Emirates investment company.

There’s plenty of other rumours like Diego Milito joining Spurs from Real Zaragoza. We certainly need another striker, especially if Berbatov goes.

Spurs target Milito, Pavlyuchenko, Bentley and Capel?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on July 21st, 2008

If the alleged tapped up duo of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane get their wish and join Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, Spurs are, as you would expect, looking to bring in replacements.

According to The Sun, we’re eyeing Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito. The 29-year-old Argentine would cost £10m and has been recommended by Gustavo Poyet.

Another target could be Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. I recall David Pleat referring to him as a similar player to noneother than Teddy Sheringham. The 26-year-old’s club are said to want £15m.

The paper also say we’ve had bids rejected for wingers David Bentley and Diego Capel of Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla respectively. Bentley would cost £17m and Capel possibly £15m.

Sunday transfer rumours

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 1st, 2008

A round-up of Sunday’s transfer rumours.

According to the Sunday Times, the fee for midfielder John Bostock will most likely go to tribunal.

The Sunday People say we could offer Aaron Lennon and Hossam Ghaly and £7m cash for Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley.

Also in the Sunday People, they report if Dimitar Berbatov leaves, we could turn to Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.

Same paper say Spurs and also Aston Villa are interested in Sampdoria defender Hugo Campagnaro.

In the Sunday Mirror, Queens Park Rangers could make a move for defender Anthony Gardner.

Again in the same newspaper, there could be a huge clearout with Darren Bent, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Gilberto, Younnes Kaboul, Jamie O’Hara, Paul Robinson and Adel Taarbet leaving.

O’Hara being axed wouldn’t make much sense, as he’s just signed a new deal, also Gilberto was only signed in January.

Ghaly off? Spurs eye Milito and Fabiano? Eto’o no-go

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on May 22nd, 2008

Hossam Ghaly could be leaving Spurs after the Egyptian revealed that there are clubs interested in signing him.

The midfielder told FilGoal: “Blackburn want to sign me. I have offers from other Premier League sides in addition to a Hertha Berlin bid but I haven’t chosen my next destination yet.”

In The Mirror newspaper, Spurs manager Juande Ramos is reportedly interested in Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito and Seville striker Luis Fabiano.

Finally, it doesn’t look like Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o will be in a Spurs shirt next season.

A reported source close to Spurs told The Telegraph: “The club are keen to bring an end to the speculation linking Eto’o with Spurs. They admire him as a player but suggestions that he is going there are just not correct.

“Ramos did not meet [Eto'o's representatives] as some reports suggested. He has been at Spurs all week.”
