Jamie O’Hara

Admittedly, on my mind at the moment is what moves Spurs are going to make in the transfer market. One player’s possible exit I meant to write about previously was Jamie O’Hara. The 23-year-old midfielder spent the whole of last season on loan with Portsmouth.

Back before Spurs’ semi-final game with Portsmouth, O’Hara, who was unable to play against Spurs for Portsmouth said the following on Twitter, “Come on lads get us to the final so I can have third time lucky at wembley,”

O’Hara was still a Spurs player when he wrote that, and to say that publicly was very much an own goal. How did he think Spurs fans would react to a player wanting their club to lose? Crazy. If he had said that privately, fair enough, however saying it publicly, isn’t very wise, and to top that off, O’Hara claims to be a Spurs fan.

He said in another tweet: “Ill always be a spurs fan so anyone who thinks I’m out of order are eggs, I’m at pompey so I want them in the final end of story”

Any fan wanting their team to lose, well, isn’t a fan. He did say in a reply to those who questioned him saying, “what u want me to be like, I’m a lifelong spurs fan but any mans dream is to play at wembley ud be the same”.

I know I wouldn’t, and I have a feeling a lot of people will feel the same.

I really do think O’Hara should have done the obvious thing and kept his mouth shut, however he chose to act in a way that he knew Spurs fans wouldn’t like. Whether he was trying to orchestrate a move away, who knows, although I think it’s clear he’d never be a regular first-team player at Spurs, as he simply isn’t good enough. So I for one hope he’ll be leaving this summer.

Sunday transfer rumours

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on June 1st, 2008

A round-up of Sunday’s transfer rumours.

According to the Sunday Times, the fee for midfielder John Bostock will most likely go to tribunal.

The Sunday People say we could offer Aaron Lennon and Hossam Ghaly and £7m cash for Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley.

Also in the Sunday People, they report if Dimitar Berbatov leaves, we could turn to Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.

Same paper say Spurs and also Aston Villa are interested in Sampdoria defender Hugo Campagnaro.

In the Sunday Mirror, Queens Park Rangers could make a move for defender Anthony Gardner.

Again in the same newspaper, there could be a huge clearout with Darren Bent, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Gilberto, Younnes Kaboul, Jamie O’Hara, Paul Robinson and Adel Taarbet leaving.

O’Hara being axed wouldn’t make much sense, as he’s just signed a new deal, also Gilberto was only signed in January.

Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham Hotspur on December 24th, 2007

So, we lost yet again to Arsenal. At least we put in a good performance and deserved something from the game. If only Robbie Keane had hit the back of the net instead of the crossbar or having his penalty saved.

I thought Jamie O’Hara had a brilliant first start in a Spurs shirt. Of course he was playing his former club. He looked very much at home in the centre of midfield. Also Paul Robinson put in yet another solid display in goal.

Dimitar Berbatov scored a cracker of a goal. Keane had backheeled the ball into the Bulgarian’s path, who blasted it home near post.

It’s just a shame we conceeded two weak goals. The first goal by Arsenal could have been avoided if players had tracked back, and the second, well, Tom Huddlestone, where were you? Also if you look at the photo, isn’t it strange how high Nicklas Bendtner is up in the air? What’s he on!? I demand a drugs test! :)
