Kranjcar: “Luka is going to impress”

Niko Kranjcar says his Croatian team-mate Luka Modric is going to impress at his new club Spurs.

Kranjcar told The Sun: “Luka has got everything.

“[Cesc] Fabregas runs the game for Arsenal and Luka is going to impress as well.”

Modric scored the penalty that gave Croatia a fortunate 1-0 win over Austria. The goal – which can be seen below – made the midfielder the youngest Croatian goalscorer to score at the European Championships.

The 22-year-old played well in a deep midfield role.

Croatia next play Germany on Thursday.

Goalkeeper set for Spurs exit

Posted by Stevio in Tottenham Hotspur on May 13th, 2008

We’ve had our first signing of the summer in Luka Modric, now we’ve had the first departure confirmed. Radek Cerny will be leaving Spurs and joining Queen’s Park Rangers.

The 34-year-old ‘keeper was on loan at White Hart Lane since January 2005 from Slavia Praha. Most of the time he did well when played, sadly, he wasn’t quite up to the standard that we need.

In ex-Spurs player news, I notice Stephen Carr hasn’t been offered a new deal at Newcastle United. Interesting statistic is that he only played 107 times for them in four years. That’s pretty bad.
