Moreno no-go, Keane to stay

Posted by Stevio in Rumours, Tottenham Hotspur on May 29th, 2008

The agent of Marcelo Moreno has confirmed that the Cruzeiro striker will not be joining Spurs – instead the Bolivian is headed to Shakhtar Donetsk.

His agent told The Sun: “He’ll have a good life in Ukraine.”

One player happy with life at Spurs is Robbie Keane.

The Irish international said: “I’m very content with my life and my time at Spurs. I want to play there as long as I’m happy and as long as I’m wanted.

“Over the last three or four years there has always been speculation that I’m going here, there and everywhere.

“I’m having a summer off without people ringing saying, ‘Are you going here, are you going there?’

“So I’m looking forward to a nice break and then going back to Spurs next season.”

Spurs rumours: Diaz, Moreno, Lloris and Dos Santos

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on May 29th, 2008

More players linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Strangely enough, not many reports linking players away from White Hart Lane.

First up, Getafe’s Argentine international Daniel Diaz says Spurs have ‘asked’ about him.

Diaz in The Sun newspaper: “It is obvious I would want to play for a great club.

“I know Tottenham have been asking.”

The 29-year-old would reportedly cost £3m.

According to The Mirror, Cruzerio have accepted bids of £4m from Tottenham and Shakhtar Donetsk for striker Marcelo Moreno.

However, The Telegraph report that Moreno has agreed terms with the Ukraine club.

Nice ‘keeper Hugo Lloris has revealed that Spurs, as well as AC Milan, are interested in him.

The Frenchman told L’Equipe: “I am not closing the door to anyone. Lyon have continuity and they are in the Champions League as well. Milan are the Calcio and all that follows. And Tottenham, they have a great project for the future with a very successful manager.”

He added: “I will go where I have the feeling I can improve best until the highest level.”

The Daily Star are reporting that we’ve won the race to snap up Barcelona winger Giovani Dos Santos in a £12.5m deal.

It appears this is being reported a lot by various sources, shame there’s nothing official anywhere.

Transfer speculation: Moreno and Edu

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on May 26th, 2008

Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno has again been linked with moving to Spurs.

The striker’s father, Mauro Martins, said: “The first offer from Tottenham was declined by the Cruzeiro board because they wanted all the money in one go.

“Marcelo really liked Donetsk, but we are waiting as this new deal also seems important.

“There is a chance to go to Tottenham, but only if they pay the whole fee at once.”

Also in the Sunday Mirror, Spurs and quite a few other Premiership clubs, have been linked with former Arsenal midfielder, Edu, who is now with Valencia.

Spurs transfer rumours round-up

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on May 20th, 2008

Spurs have today been linked with quite a few players – as is the norm for the close season.

First off is Lyon striker Loic Remy. It’s unclear who the actual source is, but Sky Sports are reporting it as “it is said”.

Remy is 21 years old and has only made 12 appearances in two years. He must be good!

Another report claims Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno would be interested in a move to White Hart Lane.

Spurs reportedly had a bid knocked back for the Bolivian international.

The striker reportedly told the Brazilian media: “I was told about the offer made by Tottenham. Of course I would like to play in England but as I said before, I have to like the place where I will be. The club has to get to an agreement with my agent and from what I know what has been offered wasn’t enough.”

L’Equipe report that Juande Ramos yesterday met with Barcelona representatives in Spain over the transfer of Samuel Eto’o. Apparently Spurs are willing to pay the staggering asking price of £31m, however, not willing to pay the Cameroon international’s high wages.

Defender Younes Kaboul could be moving to the South Coast after Portsmouth made an enquiry.

Kaboul’s agent Rudy Raba told Setanta Sports: “Portsmouth have called Tottenham. Now we are waiting for Tottenham to respond.”

Finally, according to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace youngster John Bostock will join Spurs in a deal that could go up to £5m.
