Pavlyuchenko: England move would be big problem

The Russian Teddy Sheringham, Roman Pavlyuchenko, has revealed that moving from Spartak Moscow to Spurs could be problematic.

Pavlyuchenko said: “The transfer to England which everyone is talking about would be a big problem for my family as we have a young child.

“We need to discuss it properly but I can’t say anything concrete since I don’t really know myself what’s going on.

“Everything is still being discussed. Maybe Spartak have already made a decision but I haven’t decided one way or the other.”

On moving to England without countryman Andrei Arshavin, he said: “I don’t know because I have never been at a foreign club. You need to try something first in order to know.

“On the one hand, it’s easier as a pair. But on the other, being alone forces you to get used to new conditions quicker – both language and life.

“Everything will depend on what kind of offer will be made to the club and to me. My move to a top club would definitely reflect well on the image of Spartak.

“I will see what the offer is first and then bring the whole process to a conclusion.”

Berbatov worried over Manchester United move?

Posted by Stevio in Transfers on August 19th, 2008

According to The Times, Dimitar Berbatov is worried Manchester United will move for Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar instead of himself.

This comes after United manager Sir Alex Ferguson contradicted himself by now saying he’s looking to sign another striker.

Yesterday he said he was happy to continue with his current strike force.

The Scot told The Sun: “We are working on bringing in another top striker.

“Having added strength up front is a situation I would really enjoy.

“Ideally, I like to operate with four experienced strikers, as we did when we won the Treble when we had Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Solskjaer.”

Meanwhile, Berbatov’s agent Emil Dantchev has said: “We’re entering a crucial period of negotiations,” so perhaps it’s crunch time for the Bulgarian?

Spurs target Milito, Pavlyuchenko, Bentley and Capel?

Posted by Stevio in Rumours on July 21st, 2008

If the alleged tapped up duo of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane get their wish and join Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, Spurs are, as you would expect, looking to bring in replacements.

According to The Sun, we’re eyeing Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito. The 29-year-old Argentine would cost £10m and has been recommended by Gustavo Poyet.

Another target could be Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. I recall David Pleat referring to him as a similar player to noneother than Teddy Sheringham. The 26-year-old’s club are said to want £15m.

The paper also say we’ve had bids rejected for wingers David Bentley and Diego Capel of Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla respectively. Bentley would cost £17m and Capel possibly £15m.
